1930s Preston from the air

In the 1930s Arthur William Hobart, one of the first commercial aerial photographers, flew over Britain in his bi-plane taking hundreds of photographs that Historic England has now put on line:

The biggest concentration of those now on line are the ones he took while flying over Lancashire, including four from just south of Preston. They have now all been demolished: Vernon Carus Penwortham Mill, The Lostock Hall Gas Works, the Cuerden Green and Lostock Hall cotton mills and a Bamber Bridge cotton mill.
