Assheton, Richard – Cuerdale

Richard Assheton of Cuerdale was born shortly before or after the death of his father, John, a Royalist captain killed at Bristol in 1643. [1] He married Mary, daughter of George Piggott and sister of Robert, and in 1680 inherited the Downham estate on the death of Sir Ralph Assheton of Whalley. [2]
