Werden, William

William Werden was mayor of Preston for the mayoral year October 1689 to October 1690 (see Rawstorne diary entries for October 1689). Two William Werdens, senior and junior, appear in the Preston Court Leet records from 1654 until 1698, serving the Corporation in various capacities throughout the period. William Werden, the mayor, would seem to be the son of William Werden senior. He makes his first appearance in the court leet records in 1660 and his last in 1698. [1] He is probably the William Werden gent, whose burial is recorded for 24 December 1699 in the Preston parish records. [2]
