Kellet, John

John Kellet was the mayor of Preston in 1675 and 1684. [1] Hewitson says he died in 1693 but gives no evidence. [2] However, the fact that Kellet makes regular appearances in the court leet records in the 17th century up to but not after February 1690 adds some corroboration. [3] He had a property on Church Street in 1684 when he was mayor, which helps establish the dating of the DDX194 Townley Hall plans held at Lancashire Archives (see plan).
