Parkers of Browsholme

Two members of the Parker family of Browsholme Hall in Bowland, then part of Yorkshire now appended to Lancashire, were regular visitors to Preston in the late 17th century to judge by entries in the Bellingham/Rawstorne diaries. They were Thomas Parker (1631-95) who was married to Margaret, the daughter of Ratcliffe Asshton of Cuerdale, and his eldest son Edward (1659-1710). [1] An unreferenced article describes Thomas as ‘a firm Royalist’ who was appointed a Captain of Foot in 1660. [2]
