In praise of Joseph Gudgeon

This is the latest post on Joseph Gudgeon’s Facebook page. Preston is incredibly lucky to have Joseph as its documentary photographer.

As one commenter on the YouTube film said: ‘I love these little snippets of real life. In the future, I think films like this will be treasured’.

So right. Have a look under the album tab on his FB page: Joseph has captured slices of Preston life in the recent past that will be of immense value to future historians of the town.

And he goes on documenting the daily life of Prestonians and their town: most recently in carefully recording the sad wasting away of Preston’s Victorian heritage.

His work reminds me so much of the photographer Martin Parr.
