Preston buildings ‘at risk’

The latest update to Historic England’s Buildings at Risk Register includes four buildings and a conservation area from the previous year: the Harris Institute, a wing at Barton Old Hall, St George’s Church, St Walburge’s and Fishergate Hill.

Listed for the first time is St Ignatius’ Church, where the condition is described as ‘poor’, although the register notes that the church ‘is focussed on raising funds and addressing these issues’.

  1. The ‘At Risk’ list seems to be out of date in some respects. The Harris Institute has new owners and plans have been shared for the future of the building. It’s also a long time since Nigel Roberts was the contact at PCC for the Fishergate Hill Conservation Area.
